Ahlad: After giving it a good thought, I feel I'd better accept the job. Suppose you were offered this job, would you take it?
(బాగా ఆలోచించిన తర్వాత, ఆ ఉద్యోగం చేస్తేనే మంచిదనుకుంటున్నా. నీకీ ఉద్యోగం వస్తే నువ్వు చేరతావా?)
Brajesh: Why not? If they are willing to take me up on it, I am ready. It's such a plum job that I'd jump at the offer..
(ఎందుకు చేరను? నన్ను వాళ్లు తీసుకుంటామంటే నేను సిద్ధం. ఎగిరి గంతేసి చేరతాను. అంత గొప్ప ఉద్యోగం అది.)
Ahlad: Dad was against it in the beginning, but surprisingly he gave in last night. That, after mother had impressed upon him that anybody in their right senses would embrace such an offer.
(మా నాన్నకు మొదట అది ఇష్టం లేదు. కానీ ఎలాగో ఆశ్చర్యకరంగా నిన్న రాత్రి ఒప్పుకున్నాడు. అది మా అమ్మ గట్టిగా చెప్పడంతో - సరిగ్గా ఆలోచించేవాళ్లెవరన్నా ఇలాంటి offer ను ఉపయోగించుకుంటారని.)
Brajesh: There is, of course, the problem of your having to be away from them - rather difficult for them, you being their only son.
(అయితే ఒకటుందనుకో - నువ్వు వాళ్ల నుంచి దూరంగా ఉండటం - అందులోనూ నువ్వు వాళ్లకి ఒక్కడే కొడుకువి.)
Ahlad: You can't eat your cake and have it too. I'm afraid they have to put up with it.
(అవ్వా కావాలి బువ్వాకావాలి అంటే ఎలా? అది వాళ్లు భరించాల్సిందే.)
Brajesh: I think they can't but go with it too. They will understand too, that if you reject the offer now, you can't get such a chance again.
(నేను కూడా అనుకుంటున్నా వాళ్లు ఇది ఒప్పుకోక తప్పదు అని. వాళ్లకూ తెలుసులే - నువ్వు ఇది వదులుకుంటే మళ్లీ ఇలాంటి అవకాశం రాదని.)
Ahlad: That's what I'd been telling them from the beginning. Turning it down would be foolish. I'm only happy that dad has come round to my point of view.
(మొదటి నుంచి నేను వాళ్లకు అదే చెబుతున్నా. అది వదులుకోవడం మూర్ఖత్వం అని. మా నాన్న నేను చెప్పింది ఒప్పుకున్నాడని సంతోషంగా ఉంది.)
Look at the following expressions from the conversation above.
1) I feel I had better accept the job.
2) If they are willing to take me up on it,...
3) ... he gave in last night.
4) ... anybody in their right senses would embrace the offer.
5) ... they have to put up with it.
6) ... they can't but go with it.
Now let's look at the word 'accept'.
Accept = Take what is given/ offered = స్వీకరించడం (Say 'yes' to an offer)
Accept a job. Take a job that somebody offers you.
a) If they offered you a place on the committee, would you accept it? (committee లో ఏదైనా స్థానం ఇస్తే నువ్వు తీసుకుంటావా? )
b) He phoned the Chairman to confirm his acceptance of the job offer. (ఆ job offer/ వాళ్లు ఇవ్వజూపిన ఉద్యోగం స్వీకరించడాన్ని దృఢపరుస్తూ, Chairman కు phone చేశాడతడు.)
Accept = స్వీకరించడం/ తీసుకోవడం

c) Poorna: How about the job? It is OK for you? (ఆ job విషయం ఏంటి? నీకిష్టమేనా?)
Bhagvan: I'll take the job if the money is right (జీతం బాగుంటే నేను ఆ ఉద్యోగంలో చేరతా). ఇక్కడ చూడండి. Take = accept
d) Bhanu: How about that car for Rs. 2.5 Lakh?
Prem: You can't get a better offer than that. It's a good opportunity. I think you should take it. (అంతకంటే మంచి offer రాదు నీకు. చాలా మంచి అవకాశం. నువ్వది తీసుకోవాలని (వదులుకోకూడదని) నేను అనుకుంటున్నా.)
2) Take somebody upon something - ఇది కాస్త కొత్త expression - ఇప్పుడిప్పుడే వాడుకలోకి వస్తోంది - అర్థం - జాగ్రత్తగా గమనించండి.
To accept somebody's offer to do something for you, especially some time after it is made = ఎవరైనా మనకేదైనా చేస్తామన్నపుడు అది చేయించుకోవడం ముఖ్యంగా వాళ్లు చెప్పిన కొంత కాలానికి.
a) Dayal: Feel free to call me whenever you need my help (నా సహాయం నీకెప్పుడు కావాల్సివచ్చినా పిలవడానికి /phone చేయడానికి వెనకాడకు). = స్వీకారం/ తీసుకునే చర్య
Divakar: Thanks. I will take you up on that some time. [Thanks. ఎప్పుడైనా నీ సహాయం తప్పక తీసుకుంటా (ఇప్పుడు అవసరం లేదని ఉద్దేశం)].
b) Vani: My help is always there if you intend investing in stocks and shares. (Stocks, shares లో మదుపు చేయాలనే ఉద్దేశం ఉంటే నా సహాయం నీకెప్పుడూ ఉంటుంది.)
Veena: Oh! Really? Thank you. I will take you upon that some time. (నిజంగా? Thank you. సమయం వచ్చినప్పుడు నీ సహాయం తప్పకుండా తీసుకుంటాను.)
3. Give in = unwillingly agree to someone's demands after they have argued with you, asked you a number of times, or Threatened you
(చివరికి ఒప్పుకోవడం, వాదోపవాదాల తర్వాత, ఒత్తిడికి, బెదిరింపులకు లొంగి). 
a) The central government gave in to Anna Hazare's demand for Jan Lok Pal Bill, when it came to know that people were behind him (జనం అంతా అన్నాహజారే వెంట ఉన్నారని గ్రహించి కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం చివరకు ఆయన కోరిన జనలోక్‌పాల్ బిల్లుకు అంగీకరించింది.)
b) Karuna: Oh, I see you have a new bike. Congrats. (నీ కొత్త bike చూస్తున్నా. Congrats.)
Ganesh: Dad wouldn't agree to buying me a new bike, but as I kept asking for one, he gave in. (మా నాన్న బైకు కొనివ్వడానికి ఒప్పుకోలేదు, కానీ నేను అడగ్గా అడగ్గా చివరకు ఒప్పుకున్నారు.)
c) The central government is not likely to give in to the demand a pay rise to its employees. (కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం వేతనాలు పెంచాలన్న తన ఉద్యోగుల demand కు లొంగేలా లేదు.)
4. Embrace / jump at an offer = ఏ ప్రతిపాదననైనా ఉత్సాహంతో/ సంతోషంతో ఆమోదించడం.
embrace అసలు అర్థం hug = కౌగిలించుకోవడం
a) A bank job is what a good many would embrace / jump at (Bank ఉద్యోగం అంటే చాలామంది ఎగిరి గంతేస్తారు/ ఉత్సాహంతో ముందుకొస్తారు.)
b) Harika: How about a job in a software company in the US? (అమెరికాలో software engineer job చేస్తావా?]
Niharika: Sorry to disappoint you. You thought I'd (would) jump at the offer, didn't you? I'd rather embrace a secure job in India. (నిన్ను నిరాశపరచాల్సి వస్తోంది, Sorry. అలాంటి ఉద్యోగమైతే నేనేదో ఎగిరి గంతేస్తాననుకున్నావు కదా? దాని బదులు నేను మన దేశంలో భద్రత ఉండే job ను స్వాగతిస్తా).
5) Put up with = tolerate/ to accept a troublesome person/ situation (సహించడం/ భరించడం/ తట్టుకోగలగడం)
a) What a noisy place you live in! (I) Wonder how you are able to put up with so much noise.
(ఎంత గొడవ ఉండే ప్రాంతంలో ఉంటున్నావు నువ్వు! ఇంత గొడవను ఎలా భరిస్తున్నావు!)
b) Narmada: How is army life? (సైన్యంలో నీ జీవితం ఎలా ఉంది?)
Suprabhath: The kind of treatment I have to put up with is really horrible. (సైన్యంలో కొత్తగా నియమితులైన నాలాంటి వారు చాలా దారుణమైన పరిస్థితిని తట్టుకోవాల్సి వస్తుంది).
6) Go with accept/ support a plan, idea or suggestion = ఎవరి సూచననైనా/ ప్రణాళికనైనా ఆమోదించడం Spoken English లో దీని వాడుక ఎక్కువ - మన సంభాషణకి కూడా ఇది సహజత్వాన్ని ఇస్తుంది.
a) Mani: What do you think of Ram's Idea? (రామ్ సూచన గురించి నీ అభిప్రాయం?)
Swarna: I think we should go with it. (దాని ప్రకారమే వెళ్లాలనిపిస్తోంది/ అది బాగానే ఉందనిపిస్తోంది).
b) Kumar: His idea is that you had better buy the house. (నువ్వా ఇల్లు కొనడమే మంచిదని అతడి భావం).
Indra: I can't go with it mainly because I don't have the money it costs. (ఆ ఆలోచన ప్రకారం నేను వెళ్లలేను. అంత డబ్బు నా దగ్గర లేదు).
పైవన్నీ కూడా స్వీకరించడం, ఒప్పుకోవడం, మొదట ఇష్టం లేకున్నా చివరికి ఒప్పుకోవడం, తట్టుకోవడం, ఆ ప్రకారం వెళ్లడం, చాలా ఇష్టంతో ఒప్పుకోవడం, ఒకరి సలహా/ సహాయాన్ని మనకు అవసరమైనప్పుడు వాడుకోవడం అనే అర్థాలున్న expressions.
