1. Union Cabinet approves AMRUT 2.0 till 2025-26
The Union Cabinet approved the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0 (AMRUT 2.0) till 2025-26. The decision is a step towards AatmaNirbhar Bharat and with aim of making the cities water-secure and self-sustainable through a circular economy of water.
2. IMF Projects Indian Economy To Grow At 8.5% in 2022
International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected that India will continue to be the world’s fastest growing major economy, clocking a growth rate of 9.5 per cent in 2021. As per latest IMF projections, Indian economy will grow at 8.5 percent in 2022. The world economy is expected to grow at 5.9 per cent in 2021 and 4.9 per cent in 2022, according to IMF.
3. Amit Khare has been appointed as advisor to PM Modi
Former bureaucrat Amit Khare, who last month retired as higher education secretary, has been appointed as advisor to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for two years on contract basis, a personnel ministry order issued.
4. Scientists have detected radio signals from stars
In a major discovery, astronomers have for the first time detected stars that are blasting radio signals hinting at the presence of hidden planets around them. The signals were picked up using the world’s most powerful radio antenna, the Low-Frequency Array (LOFAR) situated in the Netherlands.
