ERROR SPOTTING – ADJECTIVE  

Adjectives are words that are used to describe or modify nouns or pronouns. For example red, quick and happy are adjectives because they can describe things like, a red coat, a quick deer, a happy person etc.

Model Questions

 

1. Can you tell (a)/ me how many (b)/ milk is enough to (c)/ complete this dish (d)/. No error (e)

Explanation: ‘Milk’ is an uncountable noun. So, ‘much’ should be used. So, ‘how much’ should be used in place of ‘how many’.

2. Everybody knows (a)/ that Suresh is (b)/ the most unique (c)/ painter of our college (d)/. No error (e)

Explanation: The word ‘unique’ must be used without any modifiers, such as ‘very’, ‘most’, ‘somewhat’, etc. because uniqueness is not comparable. So, ‘a unique’ should be used in place of ‘the most unique’.

3. The dishonest (a)/ is penalized (b)/ sooner or later, (c)/ for sure (d)/. No error (e)

Explanation: An adjective becomes a plural common noun whenever the definite article ‘the’ precedes it. Here, ‘are’ should be used in place of ‘is’.
