I. Aerobic respiration: The breaking down of sugar to produce energy where oxygen is present.
C6H12O6 + 6O2 6CO2 + 6H2O + 36ATP
Glucose + Oxygen Carbon Dioxide + Water+ Energy
II. Anaerobic respiration: Refers to the oxidation of molecules in the absence of oxygen to produce energy. It is also known as Fermentation.
C6H12O6CO2 + 6C2H5OH (ethyl alcohol)
