BLOOD RELATIONS 

Example 1 :

Pointing to a girls in the photograph, Amar said, "Her mother's brother is the only son of my mother's father". How is the girl's mother related to Amar.

(1) Mother           (2) Sister           (3) Aunt            (4) Grandmother             (5) None of these

Sol. (3) Only son of Amar's mother's father is Amar's maternal uncle.

               So, the girl's maternal uncle is Amar's Maternal uncle. 

               Thus, the girl's mother is Amar's Aunt.

Example 2 :

A man said to lady, 'your mother's husband's sister is my aunt'? How is the lady related to the man?

(1) Daughter            (2) Grand daughter           (3) Mother            (4) Sister             (5) Aunt

Sol. (4) Your mother's husband - your father;

               Your father's sister - your aunt. 

               So, lady's aunt is man's aunt and therefore lady is man's sister.

Example 3 :

Point to a lady, a man said, "the son of her only brother is the brother of my wife". How is the lady related to the man?

(1) Grand Mother   (2) Mother's Sister   (3) Mother-in-law   (4) Sister or Father-in-law   (5) Maternal aunt

Sol. (4) Wife's brother - Brother-in-law. Son of lady's brother is the brother-in-law of the  
                man. 
                So, lady's brother is man's father-in-law i.e. the lady is the sister of man's father-
                in-law.

Example 4 :

A woman introduces a man as the son of the brother of her mother. How is the man related to the woman?

(1) Nephew             (2) Son              (3) Cousin             (4) Uncle              (5) Grand Son

Sol. (3) Brother of mother - Uncle;

               Uncle's Son - Coursin.

Example 5 :

Sunny said, "This girl is the wife of the grandson of my mother". Who is Sunny to the girl?

(1) Mother-in-law  (2) Sister-in-law  (3) Daugher    (4) Daughter-in-law   (5) None of these

Sol. (4) Mother's Grand Son - Son;

               Son's wife - Daughter-in-law.
