SOME FACTS ABOUT FUNDAMENTAL DUTIES

 It has been added to the constitution by the 42nd Constitutional Amendment, 1976.
 All the fundamental duties were incorporated in one article only i.e. Article 51-A. It is in Part IVA of constitution.
 Originally, constitution had only 10 fundamental duties. A 11th Fundamental duty was added by the 86th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2002.
 The idea for Fundamental Duties has been taken from erstwhile USSR. These were added in the constitution on the recommendation of Sardar Swaran Singh Committee.
