Some views on the Fundamental Duty


 Congress government of 1976 said that non-inclusion of the Fundamental Duty during 1949 was a historical mistake.
 Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister, justifies the inclusion of fundamental duties in the Constitution saying that it will strengthen democracy. She said, ‘the moral value of fundamental duties would be not to smoother rights but to establish a democratic balance by making the people conscious of their duties equally as they are conscious of their rights.’
