 A) 5 sec     B) 10 sec    C) 8 sec     D) 12 sec     E) 18 sec

Explanation: Train1 length = 420m,

                      Train1 speed = 152 km/h

                      Train2 length = x,

                      Train2 speed = 190 km/h

Ans: B]

4. 300 m long Train A crosses Train B of 180 m in length which is running in the opposite direction in 5 (5/11)  sec. If the speed of train 11 B is 20% more than that of train A, then find the time taken by both trains to cross each other, when they are running in the same direction.

A) 75 sec    B) 60 sec    C) 108 sec    D) 45 sec    E) 30 sec

Explanation: Length of Train A = 300 m

                      Length of Train B = 180 m

                      Speed of Train A & B = 5x, 6x

Ans: B

5. Train B travelling at a speed of 108 km/h crosses Train A, having a length 40 meter more than Train B and travelling in opposite direction at a speed of 90 km/h in 16 seconds. If Train A crosses a bridge in 28 seconds, then find how much time Train B will take to cross the same bridge?

A) 28 sec     B) 18 sec     C) 22 sec     D) 36 sec     E) 45 sec

Explanation: Train A length = (x + 40)m

                       Train A speed = 90 km/h

                       Train B length = x m

                       Train B speed = 108 km/h

      x + 40 = 880

      2x = 840

     x = 420

Train B length = 420m,

Train A length = 460m

Train A crosses a bridge in 28 sec

Ans: C

6. Train A and Train B cross each other in 15 seconds when running in the opposite direction, and Train A crosses Train B in 345/13 seconds when running in the same 13 direction. Length of Train B is 150% of the length of Train A and speed of Train B is 60 km/h. Find the speed of the train A in m/s.

 A) 30     B) 75     C) 90     D) 45     E) 60

Explanation: Length of Train A = 2x

                      Length of Train B = 3x

                      Speed of Train B = 60 km/h

                      Speed of Train A = y

                  13y + 780 = 23y − 1380

                 10y = 2160

                 y = 216 km/h

Ans: D

7. Train A running at speed of 64 km/hr. crosses a pole in 27 seconds and train B crosses a man in 36 seconds. Ratio of speed of trains A to B is 8 : 7 and both trains running in the opposite direction to each other, cross each other in ........ sec?

 A) 43.2 sec    B) 28.8 sec    C) 32.2 sec    D) 25.6 sec    E) 30 sec

Explanation: Length of Train A

Ans: C

8. Train A travelling at the speed of 45 km/h crosses a pole in 22 seconds. If the same train crosses a platform in 32 seconds, then find the time taken by train A to cross another stationary train B whose length is 80% more than the platform?

A) 30 sec     B) 40 sec    C) 60 sec     D) 75 sec    E) 80 sec

Explanation: Length of Train A

9. Speed of Train A and Train B is ‘S’ km/hr and ‘S + 6’ km/hr. Length of Train A is 60 meters less than Train B. While running in the same direction Train B overtakes Train A in 396 sec. Train A crosses a bridge double of its length in 108 sec. Find the time taken by Train B to cross the same bridge? (approximately)

A) 48s    B) 84s    C) 90s    D) 96s     E) 160s

Explanation: Speed of Train A = S km/h,

                       Length of Train A = x m

                       Speed of Train B = (S + 6) km/h,

                      Length of Train B = (x + 60)m

Length of Train A = 300 m

 Length of Train B = 360 m

 Bridge length = 2 × 300 = 600 m

Train A crosses a bridge in 108 sec

10. Two Trains A and B, which are ‘n’ km apart from each other start moving towards each other at the speed of 10 km/hr and 15 km/hr, respectively. In such a way that in first hour A moves and B does not move, in 2nd hour only B moves and A does not move and this continues till they meet. Find the value of  n’, if they meet after 8 (1/2) hours

A) 210 km     B) 100 km     C) 200 km     D) 105 km     E) 110 km
