The Builders

*  What is the central idea of the Poem The Builders?
The poem The Builders was written by H.W.Longfellow. He was a great American poet, educator, linguist, and traveller. He is the first American poet who didn't follow the style of the British poets. The present poem is a simple metaphor where human life is compared to a building and we the human beings are builders.
The poem is about how we make every day and how we create our own future. The theme of the poem is that each day is a block we lay down to build characteristics of our life. Our life is based on the blocks we choose. We should watch what we do as it affects our later lives. The poet says that it requires time, hard-work, perseverance, commitment, honesty and integrity to build a good and strong character. Time is the most important thing to build our life carefully. The poet says that with all the hard work if we can build a tall building, it's from that higher perspective, we can see "the world as one vast plain."
Finally we need to build our life by ourselves with high values and then only we will be able to reach greater heights to the boundless sky.
"All are architects of Fate, working in the walls of time to build our life"
