కొన్ని nouns కు ఉండే అర్థాలను బట్టి, ఒక అర్థంతో countable కావచ్చు, ఇంకో అర్థంతో uncountable గా ఉండొచ్చు. మరికొన్ని అంశాలను చూద్దాం.
Countables ను Plural గా మార్చేందుకు కింది అంశాలు గుర్తుంచుకోవాలి.
1. చివర -s, -x, -sh -ch, -tch లేని nouns కు, 's' చేర్చి Plural చేయవచ్చు.
2. చివర ch, o, s, sh, tch, z అక్షరాలు వచ్చే nouns కు, 'es' చేర్చి Plural చేస్తాం.
3. చివర y వచ్చే చాలా nouns ను Plural చేయాలంటే y తీసేసి, -ies చేరుస్తాం.
అయితే y ముందు, a, e, o, u వస్తే మాత్రం y తర్వాత 's' చేరిస్తే సరిపోతుంది.

4. 'f', 'fe' చివరవచ్చే కొన్ని nouns ను Plural గా మార్చేందుకు, 'f', 'fe' తీసేసి 'ves' చేరుస్తాం.
అయితే, handkerchief, roof లాంటి nouns కు ఇది వర్తించదు. వాటికి 's' చేరిస్తే Plural అవుతాయి.
5. కొన్ని nouns కు Plural form నిర్ణీత సూత్రం ప్రకారం వస్తుందని చెప్పలేం.
6. Singular, Plural ఒకేలా ఉండేవి కొన్ని
UNCOUNTABLES (లెక్క పెట్టలేనివాటికి)
1. Plural number ఉండదు.
2. వాటిముందు a/an వాడం.
ఇది కిందటి lesson లో తెలుసుకున్నాం కదా. అయితే English లో మనం countable అనుకునేవి కొన్ని uncountable. అంటే వాటిని Plural లో వాడం, వాటిముందు 'a'/ 'an' రాదు. వాటిలో కొన్నింటిని ఇప్పుడు చూద్దాం.
గమనించండి: A lot of = చాలా. -ఇది Countables ముందూ వాడొచ్చు, uncountables ముందూవాడొచ్చు.
A lot of books (countable) = చాలా పుస్తకాలు;
A lot of sugar = చాలా/ఎక్కువ పంచదార(uncountable)
అలాగే some = కొన్ని (countable) /కొద్ది, కొంచెం, కొంత (uncountable)
some books (countable) = కొన్ని పుస్తకాలు
some milk = కొన్ని పాలు.
అంటే A lot of, some ను countables, uncountables లకు రెండింటికీ వాడతాం.
English లో కిందివన్నీ UNCOUNTABLE. అంటే వాటిముందు a/ an వాడం, వాటికి Plurals ఉండవు. గుర్తుంచుకోండి. ఇది ముఖ్యమైన విషయం.
మరో విషయం: Uncountables ముందు a piece of/ pieces of వాడొచ్చు.
Advice (సలహా) - Advises లేదు.
an advice, a good advice ఇవన్నీ సరికాదు.
i) He gave me advice ( )
ii) I had a lot of advice/ some advice from him. ()
iii) Let me give you a piece of advice/ a few pieces of advice. ()
అలాగే ఈ కిందివన్నీ English లో Uncountable.
¤ Bread (a piece of/ pieces of bread అంటాం. Breads మాత్రం కాదు). మనం Bread ను Bakery లో loaf/ loaves గా కొంటాం, పాలను litre/ litres లో కొన్నట్లు. అలాగే మనం తినేటప్పుడు a slice of bread/ slices of bread లో చెబుతాం. (slice = ముక్క)
¤ Milk తాగడాన్ని a glass of milk/ glasses of milk లో చెప్పినట్లు. ఇలా అంటాం కదా?
I had milk/ a glass of milk/ two glasses of milk (ఎక్కడా milks అనం) అలాగే breads అనం.
¤ Business (పని) - ఇదీ Uncountable.
My father has gone out on business
(మా నాన్న పని మీద బయటికెళ్లారు.)
తెలుగులో ఒక పనిమీద అన్నట్లు a business' అని గానీ, 2, 3, పనులు అన్నట్లు two or three businesses అని గానీ అనకూడదు.
I have business; let me go
(నాకు పనుంది. నన్ను వెళ్లనీ) (A business అనం)

Furniture (Table, Chair లాంటివి) ఇది కూడా Uncountable. అంటే A furniture/ furnitures అని ఉపయోగించకూడదు.
Kumar bought furniture/ some (కొంత) furniture/ a lot of (చాలా) furniture yesterday.
ఎక్కడా a furniture/ furnitures అనలేదు కదా?
అయితే a piece of/ pieces of/ an item of/items of furniture అంటాం. There are three items/ pieces of furniture in the room
(ఆ గదిలో 3 వస్తువులు furniture ఉన్నాయి). Furnitures అనకపోవడం గమనించండి.
¤ 
Luggage (సామాను) కూడా అంతే.
A luggage/ luggages అని వాడకూడదు. a piece of/ an item of/ pieces of/ items of luggage అనాలి.
The old woman had three pieces of luggage.
¤ Hair = వెంట్రుక.
చాలావరకు దీన్ని Uncountable గానే వాడతాం. ఎప్పుడైనా there is a hair in the rice అనవచ్చు. కానీ మామూలుగా అయితే, hairs అనేది ఎప్పుడూ వాడం, ముఖ్యంగా మనుషుల జుట్టు అనే అర్థంతో.
She has beautiful dark hair అంటాం. hairs అనం.
¤ Information (సమాచారం) - Uncountable.
A piece of/ pieces of information అనొచ్చు.
An Information / informations సరైన వాడుక కాదు.
I have information/ a piece of information for you- correct.
I want some conformation/This book gives a lot of information- ఇవన్నీ correct.
An information/informations తప్పు.
¤ News = వార్త /సందేశం- uncountable.
A news/These news సరికాదు, a good news, a happy news కూడా తప్పే.
He has got news for us/some news for us/a lot of news for us - all these are correct.
A good news/An important news - ఇవన్నీ తప్పే.
¤ Paper - రాయడానికి, Printing కూ వాడేది uncountable. అంటే రాసే, ప్రింట్ కు వాడే paper విషయంలో A paper/papers అనం.
a) He needs two sheets of paper.
b) She wrote down her name on a slip of paper - correct.
c) Here is a piece of paper - correct.
I want paper - correct
The shop sells paper - correct (not papers)
¤ అయితే paper అంటే పత్రం (ముఖ్యమైన కాగితం - certificates, passport, visa, ఆస్తులకు సంబంధించిన దస్తావేజుల లాంటివి) అనే అర్థంతో వాడితే అప్పుడది countable.

మీ పత్రాలను (certificates, documents లాంటివి) చూపించండి.
Here is a paper showing my right to the property.
ఆస్తి మీద నాకున్న హక్కును తెలిపే ఒక పత్రం ఇది.
¤ Soap (సబ్బు) - uncountable.
అంటే A soap/soaps తప్పు.
i) A cake of/cakes of soap (Shop లో కొనేటప్పుడు)
I went to the shop for soap/a cake of soap - (correct)We use three cakes of soap a month
(నెలకు మూడు సబ్బులు వాడతాం - Soaps కాదు)
Let me have soap/some soap/a piece of soap, please
(నాకు సబ్బు ఇవ్వండి - A soap అనం.)
¤ Work = పని.
A work/an urgent/an important work - wrong.
తెలుగులో ఒక పని, చాలా పనులు అంటాం. English లో అది సరికాదు. Works కూడా తప్పు.
A piece of work - correct.
He has important work - correct
అయితే work అంటే పని అనే అర్థంతో Job వాడతాం. (Job కు ఇంకో అర్థం, ఉద్యోగం)
Work = Job.
Work uncountable, job countable.
I have two or three jobs to do before going to bed.
(పడుకోవడానికి ముందు రెండు మూడు పనులు ఉన్నాయి నాకు) - correct.
ఇలా ఇవన్నీ కూడా uncountables. అంటే వీటికి plural ఉండదు. వీటి ముందు a/an రాదు. అయితే చాలా/ఎక్కువ అనే అర్థంతో a lot of; కొన్ని, కొంత అనే అర్థంతో some, వీటి ముందు వాడొచ్చు. A piece of/pieces of అని కూడా వీటిముందు వాడవచ్చు .
మరికొన్ని Nouns ను ఎప్పుడు plural లోనే వాడతాం. అవి ఒక వస్తువునే సూచించినప్పటికీ:
e.g.: 1) Trousers/Pants (పురుషులు ధరించేవి) (Pants అనే అనాలి, ఒక వస్తువు అయినా. Pant అనడం తప్పు. అయితే ఒకటి కంటే ఎక్కువ Pants ను చెప్పాలనుకున్నప్పుడు.
